“Two New Contracts… T-Mobile and Taco Bell

Last week I had a man message me on Facebook and say, ‘What makes you think you’ve done enough in voiceover to share your viewpoint on how others should approach their work.’ For those of you that don’t follow me on IG, I share insight from my studio, almost daily. He then went on to say, ‘If you were the real deal, you’d post all of it on social media!’ I sent him to the demo page on my website and then told him to google me. I wasn’t being defensive. My hope was that he’d see some value in what I share. At this point in my life, it’s about empowering others.

Overall though, I have to admit,
I think I disappoint a lot of people in my community. I’ve walked the Red Carpet with Steven Spielberg, held one of the top sport network contracts in the country, and have been on set with at least a dozen celebrities who I know if you asked them would say, ‘Dustin is the real deal.’ But I would never ask them to take a photo with me, let alone share it. And I have no desire to post every campaign I brand either.

This new world is tough. I feel like we have to ‘show’ more. Heck, people actually believe what they see on someone’s Instagram more than what Google tells them.
So here we go: in the last month, I’ve signed two new exclusive union contracts, one with T-Mobile for their national radio campaign, the other with Taco Bell for their national television campaign. And that’s by no means all the client relationships I have. I work with some of the top companies in North America daily.

Probably the most influential film character in my life is Mr. Miyaggi. In Karate Kid Part 2, Daniel Son and he arrive in Okinawa. They see a poster of Mr. Miyaggi’s long time childhood friend, and now rival, Sotto, breaking a tree trunk mid-air. It’s an advertisement for his karate school franchise. Daniel Son turns to Mr. Miyaggi and says, ‘Can you break a log like that?’ And Mr. Miyaggi says, ‘Don’t know, never been attacked by a tree.’ Me neither.

I share to stay in touch. I share to hopefully spread a little love and let you know I’m here if you need me.
I hope I will forever be recognized as a humble, kind person that is defined by his work and professionalism, not his highlight reel. With that being said, yes, I have two new contracts. I feel very fortunate, especially at a time when COVID has crippled most of my artist friends. Thank you for being part of my family.

As always, I’m on standby via ISDN, Source Connect, IPDTL, and Phone Patch for my clients, 24/7. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask” - Dustin James Leighton
